How the UCEED 2026 Final Merit Rank Is Calculated
The final All India Rank (AIR) in UCEED is based on both Part-A and Part-B scores. You must clear Part-A to be eligible for ranking.
| Component | Weight in Rank |
|---|---|
| Part-A score | Screening + contributes to the total |
| Part-B score | Major differentiator |
| Total score | AIR basis |
How Are UCEED Ranks Decided: Merit List & Tie-Break Rule
The UCEED merit list will be released by IIT Bombay along with the results. Only candidates who clear the Part-A cutoff are considered for ranking and final AIR, based on the combined performance of Part-A and Part-B.
- As the total number of seats are less than 250 IIT seats, a small rank difference can affect your final rank and admission chances.
- The category-wise rank of the candidates will be used in seat allotment.
- The tie-breaking rule is applied only if the scores of 2 candidates match.
How Is the All India Rank (AIR) Calculated?
The UCEED AIR is prepared using both Part-A and Part-B scores. If you clear the Part-A cutoff, then your Part-B cutoff will be evaluated, after which the final score determines the rank list for counselling and seat allotment.
| Component | Role in Rank |
|---|---|
| Part-A score | Screening + contributes to the total |
| Part-B score | Major weight in top ranks |
| Total score | Final AIR basis |
| Category | Determines category rank |
| AIR list | Used for counselling |
Tie-Breaking Rules: Part-B Marks vs Sectional Scores
When 2 or more candidates score the same marks, the tie-breaking rule is applied to decide the rank order.
UCEED Tie-Breaking Order
- In Part-B, the rank is decided among the top 100 candidates.
- The section-wise performance matters even after the total scores are tied.
- The same rank may be assigned if all the tie-breakers are equal.
| Priority | Rule Applied |
|---|---|
| 1 | Higher Part-B marks get a better rank |
| 2 | Higher marks in Part-A Section 2 |
| 3 | Higher marks in Part-A Section 1 |
| 4 | If the tie persists, the same rank is assigned |
