About the Institution
Veer Kunwar Singh University (VKSU) is a public university which was established in 1976 and has been approved and recognised by UGC, AICTE, and NCTE respectively. VKSU is ranked among the top universities in Bihar, has established itself as a center for higher education and research in cutting-edge fields of science, humanities, and social sciences. There are 18 constituent colleges within the university, including H.D.
Jain College, Maharaja College, and S.B. College, Ara. VKSU currently has 66 colleges affiliated to its Programs.
VKSU offers various UG, PG, and doctoral level courses in the disciplines of arts, science, commerce, law and humanities. Students seeking admission to courses here are admitted based on their performance in the entrance exam conducted by the University or based on their merit in their previous academic qualifications. For B.Ed course, admissions are based on Bihar B.Ed CET.

The Central Library of VKSU, Ara, Bihar was established in xxxx. In the beginning it was housed in a hall of University Administrative Building. In xxxx it was shifted to the present library building. Now it has a centrally located magnificent building equipped with all modern facilities. It has a seating capacity for about 1500 users. It has a collection of over 140,000 books, which consists of books, thesis, reference collections, and bound volumes of journals.
The Courses offered by the University are approved from University Grants Commission (UGC). The university is a premier institution of teaching and learning in the city and offers various full-time and part-time courses ranging from undergraduate to postgraduate and research level. The university also acts as an affiliated link between several colleges and institutes located across the state in providing higher education. The University is a member of The Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
