AIIMS MBBS 2025 Tie Breaking Criteria
NTA assigns every candidate a rank based on their NEET scores. When two or more candidates have the same scores, tie breaking criteria are applied.
If two candidates have the same score, their Biology scores are considered first. Higher marks in Biology mean a higher rank. If Biology marks are also the same, then Chemistry scores are considered.
If the tie still remains, the candidate with fewer wrong answers gets a higher rank. If that does not help, the older candidate receives the higher rank.
An example of the tie breaking criteria is shown below.
| Name | Biology | Chemistry | Physics | Total | NEET Rank |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rahul | 355 | 170 | 160 | 685 | 1,252 |
| Aisha | 355 | 165 | 165 | 685 | 1,253 |
In this example, both candidates scored the same total in NEET. Rahul had higher marks in Chemistry, which is why he received a higher rank.
