Test I: Core Mathematics

  • Calculus, including limits, continuity, derivatives, definite integrals and infinite series
  • Functions of several variables, partial derivatives, multiple integrals and vector calculus
  • Linear algebra, matrices, vector spaces, linear transformations, eigenvalues and eigenvectors
  • Complex variables, analytic functions, Cauchy's theorems, Taylor and Laurent series and residues
  • Probability and statistics, probability distributions, estimation, hypothesis testing, correlation and regression
  • Differential equations, Fourier series, Laplace transforms and partial differential equations
  • Numerical methods, including methods for nonlinear equations, systems of linear equations and numerical integration

Test II: Discipline-Specific Subjects

  • Chemical Engineering: chemical process calculations, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, mass and heat transfer, reaction engineering, process technology, plant design and process control
  • Civil Engineering: mechanics and strength of materials, structural analysis, concrete and steel design, transportation, surveying, construction, soil mechanics, water resources and environmental engineering
  • Electrical and Electronics Engineering: electrical sciences, electromagnetics, digital electronics, signals and systems, electrical machines, control systems, power systems, electronics, microprocessors and communication systems
  • Mechanical Engineering: production techniques, materials, production planning, machine design, mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics and machines
  • Computer Science and other disciplines: questions are based on the basic undergraduate subjects prescribed for the selected Higher Degree programme.
