Amrita School of Dentistry was established in 2003 under Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. It is part of the Amrita Kochi campus.

The Kochi campus includes the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), the School of Dentistry, the School of Medicine, the School of Nursing, the School of Pharmacy, the School of Allied Health Sciences, and the Centre for Nanosciences.

The school started offering BDS in 2003. The then Health Minister, Smt. Sushma Swaraj, inaugurated the programme.
