CEED 2025 Eligibility

CEED 2025 eligibility criteria have been released by IIT Bombay. The application process for CEED 2025 is currently open.

To appear for CEED, a candidate must meet one of the following educational qualifications:

• Completed a degree, diploma, or post-graduate degree programme of minimum 3 years duration (after 10+2 level).

OR

• Be appearing for the final examination of such a programme by July 2024.

OR

• Have passed the GD Arts diploma programme (10+5 level) by July 2024.

There is no age limit to appear for CEED. A candidate can appear for CEED any number of times.

Eligibility criteria for admission to institutes may differ from the eligibility criteria for appearing in CEED. Candidates should check the specific admission criteria of their desired institutes before applying.

If a candidate fails to satisfy even one eligibility criterion, the application will be rejected and admission will not be considered.

CEED 2025 Eligibility Criteria for Participating Institutes

Different CEED 2025 participating institutes have different eligibility criteria for admission. The eligibility criteria for some institutes are summarised below.

IISc Bangalore

• A recognized Bachelor's degree in engineering, design, or architecture.

IIT Bombay

Candidates must have a minimum of 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwD) or equivalent grades in the qualifying degree. The accepted qualifying degrees are:

• Bachelor's Degree in Design, Engineering, Architecture, or Interior Design (minimum 4 years).
• B. Plan is considered equivalent to B.Arch.
• Four-year B.Sc (Engg) course after HSC is considered equivalent to BE/B.Tech.
• Professional Diploma in Design (minimum 4 years).
• BFA (4-year professional program with entry after 10+2).
• GD Art (4-year program after 1-year foundation; minimum entry requirement is 10th pass).

IIT Delhi

• The M.Des programme offers 20 seats to students from B.Tech, B.Des, and B.Arch backgrounds.
• Candidates must have a valid CEED score. GATE score will not be considered.

IIT Guwahati

• 4-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Design, Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field with a minimum CPI of 6.0 out of 10 or 60% marks.
• 4-year Professional Diploma in Design from NID or Professional Diploma from CEPT (5-year programme) with a minimum CPI of 6.0 out of 10 or 60% marks.
• Relaxation for SC/ST/PwD candidates: The minimum requirement is relaxed by 0.5 CPI or 5% marks. SC/ST/PwD candidates need a minimum CPI of 5.5 out of 10 or 55% marks.

CEED 2025 Score Card Validity

CEED is a national level exam conducted annually for admission to post-graduate design programmes. It is conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IITB).

The CEED 2025 score card is valid for one year from the date of the CEED result declaration.

CEED 2025 Eligibility Criteria for Design Programmes

CEED 2025 scores are accepted by multiple institutes for admission to Master of Design (M.Des) and PhD programmes. Each institute sets its own eligibility criteria. The details for IIT Hyderabad, IIT Kanpur, IIITDM Chennai, IIT Roorkee, and IIITDM Jabalpur are given below.

IIT Hyderabad Eligibility Criteria

For M.Des

A valid CEED score is mandatory for admission to the M.Des programme at IIT Hyderabad. Candidates must also meet the minimum marks requirement in their qualifying examination.

• Minimum 55% marks (50% for SC/ST) or equivalent grades in the qualifying examination.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Architecture / Design / Interior Design or equivalent (4 years duration after 10+2).
• Professional Diploma in Design (NID/CEPT or equivalent of 4 years duration after 10+2).
• B.F.A. (4 year professional programme, after 10+2).
• G.D. Art (5 year programme after 10th) with one year post qualification professional experience.
• Master's degree in Arts / Science / Computer Applications (2 year programme after 10+2+3).

For PhD

Candidates must hold a Master's degree in a relevant field. A valid CEED score is not the only requirement; a PhD proposal and portfolio must also be submitted.

• M.Des. / M.Arch. / M.Tech. / M.Phil. / MFA / M.A / M.Sc / Postgraduate Diploma in Design of NID, Ahmedabad OR equivalent.
• Minimum 55% marks (50% for SC/ST) in the final academic year of the programme.
• Minimum 55% marks (50% for SC/ST) in aggregate or as specified by the university.
• A first class as specified by the university.
• Minimum CPI of 5.5 (5.0 CPI for SC/ST) on a scale of 10, with proportional requirements for other scales.

All candidates must upload one zip file containing the following:

• PhD proposal
• Portfolio of work and/or publications

IIT Kanpur Eligibility Criteria

IIT Kanpur accepts both CEED and GATE scores for its two-year Master of Design Programme. The basic requirement is a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Design, or Architecture.

• A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Design or Architecture.
• A valid CEED or GATE score.
• Candidates with degrees in Fine Arts or Interior Design are NOT eligible.

IIITDM Chennai Eligibility Criteria

Admission to the Master level programme at IIITDM Chennai is based on CEED or GATE scores. The Selection Committee may also call candidates for a written test and/or interview.

For M.Des (Regular and Sponsored)

Eligible degrees include B.Tech / B.E. / B.Arch / B.Des. / B.FA / M.Sc / MA / MCA. A valid national-level qualifying score is essential.

• Minimum 60% marks OR a CPI / CGPA of 6.0 (on a scale of 10.00) in the Qualifying Degree.
• Relaxation for reserved category as per Govt. of India norms.
• A valid GATE / CEED / UGC JRF score is essential for the regular category.

For Ph.D. (Design) (Regular, Sponsored, and External)

The PhD programme requires a Master's degree in Design with high marks. There is also a category for working professionals.

• M.Des. with minimum marks / CPI in Qualifying Degree.
• Minimum 65% marks or a CPI / CGPA of 6.5 (on a scale of 10) at the master's level.
• Relaxation for reserved category as per Govt. of India norms.
• Candidates on permanent roles in NITs, IITs, Central Universities, Govt. Universities, Defence R&D organization, or PSU for at least two years can apply under the External Registration Programme.

IIT Roorkee Eligibility Criteria

The Master of Design programme at IIT Roorkee has a minimum marks requirement based on category. The programme focuses on an interdisciplinary teaching and training process.

• General, GEN-EWS and OBC candidates: minimum 60% marks or CGPA of 6.00 on a 10-point scale.
• SC/ST/PD candidates: minimum 55% marks or 5.50 CGPA on a 10-point scale.

IIITDM Jabalpur Eligibility Criteria

For B.Design

Candidates must have qualified CEED 2025. A personal interview is also part of the admission process.

• Must have qualified CEED 2025.
• Must pass a personal interview.

For M.Design

Candidates need a graduation degree and a valid CEED 2025 score.

• Must have a graduation degree.
• Must have qualified CEED 2025.

CEED 2025 Seat Reservation

Reserved category seats are available for CEED 2025. The category rank for CEED 2025 is prepared based on the category provided in the CEED 2025 Application form.

Category Certificates Required for CEED 2025 Admission

Candidates applying under the Scheduled Category (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST) must submit a certificate from a competent authority with the CEED 2025 application form. The certificate must be issued by an authorised officer. If the required certificate is not provided, the candidature may be rejected.

Candidates applying under the Other Backward Classes (OBC) Category must submit an OBC certificate with the application form. If the OBC non-creamy layer certificate does not match the prescribed format, the candidate will be treated under the General Category.

No late submission of documents is allowed under any circumstances. Candidates should submit all necessary documents on time.

PwD Category Requirements

For Person with Disability (PwD) candidates, the benefit applies only if the disability is at least 40% permanent physical impairment. This impairment may relate to a body part, system, extremity, or the whole body. Disabilities include blindness, low vision, hearing impairment, locomotor disability, or cerebral palsy.

PwD candidates must submit a disability certificate from a Government Medical Board along with the application form. The candidate must also be fit to pursue the programme at the time of admission.

The percentage of disability for candidates selected under the PwD Category will be certified by a Medical Board. This board must be constituted by the admitting institute.

Important Notes on Reservation

• Reserved seat provisions are subject to change as per any Government order.
• The candidate is fully responsible for proving eligibility for admission, including minimum educational qualifications and claiming reservation under a specific category.

SC/ST Certificate Issuing Authority

Candidates claiming CEED 2022 Reservation under SC/ST category must submit the category certificate during CEED 2024 Registration. The certificate must be issued by one of the following authorities:

• District Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate, Collector, Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner, or Deputy Collector
• 1st Class Stipendary Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Taluka Magistrate, Executive Magistrate, or Extra Assistant Commissioner (not below the rank of 1st class Stipendiary Magistrate)
• Chief Presidency Magistrate, Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate, or Presidency Magistrate
• Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar or Sub-Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate or family normally resides
• Administrator, Secretary to Administrator, or Development Officer (Lakshadweep Island)
