JCECE 2025 Eligibility Criteria

The Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) has set eligibility criteria for different courses and categories. JEE Main is mandatory for B.Tech aspirants. Qualification, age and subject criteria also apply.

The minimum and maximum age limits are 17 and 22 years, depending on the course. Candidates must have passed the 10+2 exam from a recognised board or university. This applies to every category and course.

B.Tech (Agriculture Engineering) and B.Tech (Dairy Technology) Eligibility

• Qualification: 10+2 or Intermediate with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognised Board or University.
• Subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are compulsory subjects.
• Age limit: Minimum 17 years and maximum 22 years as of July 1, 2025, for general students. SC, ST and OBC candidates get a 5-year relaxation.
• Physical fitness: A medical checkup by the board is required. Only medically fit candidates are eligible.
• Domicile: Candidates must be permanent or local residents of Jharkhand as per the Raj Bhasa, Government of Jharkhand. A valid Local Resident Certificate is needed at the time of JCECE counselling.

B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture and B.Sc. (Hons.) Forestry Eligibility

• Qualification: Intermediate in Science (10+2) or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognised Board or University.
• Subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Mathematics are compulsory subjects.
• Age limit: Minimum 17 years and maximum 22 years as of July 1, 2025, for general students. SC, ST and OBC candidates get a 5-year relaxation.
• Physical fitness: A medical checkup by the board is required. Only medically fit candidates are eligible.

• Qualification: Intermediate in Science (10+2) or equivalent with PCB, PCM, PCMB, PC Forestry or Inter (Agriculture) as core subjects from a recognised board or university.
• Subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Mathematics are compulsory subjects.
• Age limit: Minimum 17 years and maximum 22 years as of July 1, 2025, for general students. SC, ST and OBC candidates get a 5-year relaxation.
• Physical fitness: A medical checkup by the board is required. Only medically fit candidates are eligible.

B.V.Sc. and A.H (Animal Husbandry) Eligibility

• Qualification: Intermediate in Science (10+2) or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as core courses from a recognised Board or University. General category candidates need 50% marks in the aggregate. SC, ST and other special category candidates need 47.5% in the aggregate.
• Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English are compulsory subjects.
• Age limit: Minimum 17 years and maximum 25 years as of December 31, 2025, for general students. SC, ST and OBC candidates get a 5-year relaxation.
• Physical fitness: A medical checkup by the board is required. Only medically fit candidates are eligible.
• Domicile: Candidates must be permanent or local residents of Jharkhand as per the Raj Bhasa, Government of Jharkhand. A valid Local Resident Certificate is needed at the time of JCECE counselling.

B.F.Sc (Bachelor of Fisheries Science) Eligibility

Eligibility details for B.F.Sc are part of the JCECE 2025 criteria. Candidates must meet the qualification, age, physical fitness and domicile requirements set by the board.

JCECE 2025 Eligibility Criteria

The Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (JCECE) 2025 eligibility criteria are based on qualification, subjects, age, physical fitness, and domicile. Candidates must meet all the requirements to be considered for admission.

Qualification and Subject Requirements

• Qualification: Candidates must have passed Higher Secondary/10+2/Intermediate in Science (10+2) or its equivalent examination with PCMB/PCB/Inter (Agriculture) as core subjects from a recognized board or university.
• Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English are compulsory subjects.

Age Limit

• The minimum and maximum ages are 17 and 22 years as of July 1, 2025, for general category students.
• SC/ST/OBC category candidates get a 5-year relaxation in the minimum age.

Physical Fitness and Domicile

• Physical Fitness: Candidates must undergo a medical checkup by the board and be declared medically fit to be eligible.
• Domicile: Candidates must be permanent or local residents of Jharkhand as per the domicile rules of the Raj Bhasa, Government of Jharkhand. A valid Local Resident Certificate must be shown at the time of JCECE counselling.

Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme

The tuition fee waiver scheme is only for candidates in Engineering Institutes. It applies to 55 seats in every approved institute as per the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.

Candidates with an annual family income below INR 4.5 lakh are eligible for the scheme. An income certificate issued by the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) and Deputy Commissioner of Jharkhand must be submitted at the time of counselling. Seats are allotted based on merit and choice.

JCECE Reservation

To avail reservation, candidates must have a proper Local Resident Certificate issued by the authority assigned by the Government of Jharkhand.

Reservation Based on Caste

Reservation is followed in accordance with the latest Reservation Policy of the Jharkhand Government by various Government and Private Institutes. Candidates must show a Caste Certificate in the proper format, available on the Act & Circular column of the official website, issued by the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) or Deputy Commissioner of Jharkhand State. A Caste Certificate issued by any other authority is considered invalid, and the candidate will be placed in the general category.

Reservation for Disabled Candidates

To avail a reservation seat, candidates must be at least 40% disabled in one of the following categories:

1. Blindness and low vision
2. Deaf and hard of hearing
3. Locomotor Disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims, and muscular dystrophy
4. Autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability, and mental illness
5. Multiple disabilities from amongst persons under clauses (a) to (d) including deaf-blindness

At the time of counselling, candidates must provide a full-size photograph and a Certificate of Disability issued by the Civil Orthopedics Doctor of the District Hospital or Civil Surgeon of Jharkhand state.

Eligibility for Local Resident Certificate

The Local Resident Certificate is mandatory to appear in the JCECE 2025 exam. The candidate's birthplace must be Jharkhand, and the following requirements must be fulfilled to get the certificate.

• Either the candidate or their parents must be a resident of Jharkhand for a minimum of 15 years.
• One parent must be working as a Government official under the Government of Jharkhand, OR working under the Government of India as a Government official but transferred to Jharkhand for service.
• The candidate or their parents must own property or run a business authorised by the Government of Jharkhand.

The following criteria are also considered:

1. The candidate must have completed seven years of schooling from any school in Jharkhand.
2. The candidate must have cleared the following examinations from any educational institution in the state of Jharkhand:
   • For graduation-level admission in any recognized university, the candidate must have passed the qualifying exam.
   • For admission in any university or intermediate board exam (I.Sc.), 10+2, or any other equivalent qualifying examination, scores of class 8th are considered.
   • In other conditions, class 4th scores are considered.

Residence Rules for JCECE

The wife of a Jharkhand resident is also treated as a resident of Jharkhand. The resident certificate of the spouse is valid in this case.

You are considered a local resident of Jharkhand if your father or mother is a Defence Personnel and a citizen of Jharkhand, even if he or she has not been posted in Jharkhand for service. It is not necessary for you to have studied at an institution in Jharkhand. This rule applies only to Defence Service Personnel.

The wife and children of All-India Service officials are also counted as citizens of Jharkhand. Children of Ex-Defence Servicemen do not need to submit the Local Resident Certificate during JCECE 2024 Counselling. Kashmiri Migrants are not required to provide a resident certificate.
