MH CET Law 2025 Eligibility Criteria: General Qualification
Candidates must have scored a minimum aggregate of 45% in their qualifying exam to be eligible for MH CET Law 2025. There is no upper age limit for candidates to appear for the exam.
- Only Indian Nationals can apply for MH CET Law 2025.
- The Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) Maharashtra decides the eligibility criteria for this state-level entrance examination.

MH CET Law 2025 Eligibility Criteria: Candidature Qualification
The competent authority has stated different eligibility standards for different types of candidature. These categories are listed below.
Maharashtra State Candidature
There are various types of candidatures that come under this category. They are as follows:
- Type A - A candidate who is a Domicile of Maharashtra or born in Maharashtra.
- Type B - A candidate whose father or mother is domiciled in the State of Maharashtra.
- Type C - A candidate whose father or mother is an employee of the Government of India (GOI) or a GOI Undertaking, and is posted and reported to duty in Maharashtra State before the last date for submitting the Application Form for CAP.
- Type D - A candidate whose father or mother is an employee of the Government of Maharashtra or a Government of Maharashtra Undertaking.
- Type E - Candidates passing SSC and/or HSC Examination or Equivalent Examination from a recognized institution in a disputed Maharashtra Karnataka Border Area, and whose mother tongue is Marathi.
All India Candidature
Candidates having Indian Nationality are eligible to fill in the application form for MH CET Law under this category.
Minority Candidature
A Maharashtra domiciled candidate belonging to a particular Linguistic or Religious Minority Community within the State, as notified by the Government, is considered eligible.
NRI/ Foreign Students/ OCI/ PIO Candidature
These candidates are not required to apply and appear for MH CET Law 2023. They only need to apply for CAP rounds as per the schedule.
Jammu and Kashmir Migrant Candidature
Candidates are eligible under this category if they fall into one of the following groups:
- Children of J&K citizens who are:
- displaced from J&K to any part of India, or
- from the unsafe border area of J&K to a relatively safer place in J&K from 1990 onwards due to terrorist activities.
- Children of officers belonging to Indian Administrative Services (IAS), Indian Police Services (IPS), or Indian Foreign Services (IFS), and children of staff belonging to military and paramilitary forces transferred to J&K to combat terrorist activities, who joined the post on or before the last date for submission of application for admission.
- Children of staff and officers of J&K police engaged in combating terrorism.
MH CET Law Eligibility Criteria: Academic Qualification

The reservation policy for MH CET Law 2025 is decided by the Government of Maharashtra. Candidates belonging to reserved categories can claim reservation as per the rules.
MH CET Law 2025 Eligibility Criteria: Academic Qualification
The educational qualification required for the 5-year and 3-year law programs is different. The academic eligibility criteria for each program are given below.
For MAH-Law 5-year Integrated Law Program
- Candidates must have passed SSC (10th Class) and HSC (Class 12th) from a recognized school in Maharashtra State.
- Maharashtra State Candidates must have a minimum of 45% aggregate marks (40% for SC/ ST category) in the qualifying examination.
Note(s):
- SSC and HSC graduates from outside the Maharashtra State Board will be considered as Open Category Candidates irrespective of their Caste/ Category.
- Candidates appearing for the Class 12 examination in the academic year 2017-18 are also eligible for MH CET Law 2025. Admissions will be confirmed if they score the minimum qualifying marks and produce the same while filling in the CAP form.
- Students who have appeared for the board exam through the Open University system without having a basic formal education will not be considered eligible for MH CET Law 2025.
For 3-year Law Program
- Candidates must have passed a Graduate or Postgraduate degree in any stream from a recognized university of Maharashtra or India.
- Maharashtra State Candidates must have a minimum of 45% aggregate marks (40% for SC/ ST category) in the qualifying examination.
Note(s):
- Final year/ last semester candidates are eligible for the 3-year program. The admission will be provisional till the time they do not clear the qualifying examination.
- Final semester mark sheets must be submitted at the time of counselling.
MH CET Law 2025: Seat Reservation
A reservation scheme governs the admission process in MH CET Law Exam Accepting Colleges. The rule is uniformly applicable to Government colleges, government-aided professional educational institutions, and aided undergraduate degree departments/ courses in law into non-agricultural universities.
MH CET Law 2025 Reservation Policy
- 85% seats are laterally reserved for students of the state of Maharashtra in all the Government/Government aided/ Government aided minority institutions/ University departments/ courses.
- 10% seats are reserved laterally for students from all over the country in all the Government/Government aided/ Government aided minority institutions/ University departments/ courses.
- 5% seats are reserved under the NRI/OCI/PIO quota for foreign nationals or Indian candidates with foreign nationality in all the Government/Government aided/ Government aided minority institutions/ University departments/ courses.
- In unaided institutes, there is no minority quota and 65% of seats are reserved for students of Maharashtra state.
- In unaided minority institutes, 51% of seats are reserved for minority candidates.
- 20% of seats are directly reserved for NRI/OCI/PIO/Foreign candidates in all the unaided institutes. This includes a 5% quota defined for NRI/OCI/PIO/Foreign candidates.
