Score Card and Normalization

MHT CET 2025 performance is tested in two phases: raw score calculation and score normalization. The MHT CET Result is calculated using both.

Raw marks depend only on correct answers. Normalization adjusts scores across shifts to maintain fairness due to different difficulty levels.

Raw Score Calculation

The Raw Score in MHT CET is based on the candidate's performance without any shift adjustment. There is no negative marking.

If a student answers 65 questions correctly, the raw score is calculated using the marking scheme below.

Aspect Details
Marking Scheme (PCM/PCB) +2 marks for each correct answer
Negative Marking No negative marking
Subjects Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology
Importance Initial Marks Before Normalization

Score Normalization

MHT CET Results are calculated using normalization because the exam is held in multiple sessions with slightly different difficulty levels.

Normalization converts raw marks to a percentile score based on relative performance in a given session.

For example, if 1800 candidates appear in a session and a candidate's score is higher than or equal to 1750, the percentile is calculated using the normalization formula.

Is MHT CET Easy?

MHT CET is a moderate exam compared to national-level exams like JEE Main. The competition level is still high, especially for branches like Computer Engineering.

The difficulty also depends on the candidate's preparation level and the exam shift.

Section Difficulty Level Key Insights
Mathematics Moderate to Difficult Requires strong problem-solving speed and accuracy
Physics Moderate Conceptual and formula-based questions
Chemistry Easy to Moderate Mostly theory-based, direct questions
Biology (PCB group) Easy to Moderate NCERT-based, fact-based questions dominate

MHT CET 2025 Marks vs Percentile

The MHT CET 2025 Marks vs Percentile ranking helps students estimate their percentile from their raw score. Since the exam is held in multiple shifts, the percentile is calculated using normalization to ensure fairness.

The higher the raw score, the higher the percentile.

  • Candidates with 140+ marks usually belong to the 98+ percentile category, which makes them eligible for competitive colleges such as COEP, VJTI, and SPIT.
  • A score of 100–110 marks can easily attain a 92–95 percentile, which is suitable for mid-range government and private colleges.
  • In 2024, those who scored around 130 marks obtained around 97–98 percentile in PCM and PCB groups.
  • Applicants who score less than 60 marks typically fall below the 75 percentile mark, lowering the chances for Tier-1 colleges.
Marks Range (Out of 200) Expected Percentile Range
180 – 200 99.90 – 100 percentile
160 – 179 99.70 – 99.89 percentile
140 – 159 98.50 – 99.69 percentile
120 – 139 96.00 – 98.49 percentile
100 – 119 92.00 – 95.99 percentile
80 – 99 85.00 – 91.99 percentile
60 – 79 75.00 – 84.99 percentile
40 – 59 60.00 – 74.99 percentile
Below 40 Below 60 percentile

What is the percentile for 130 marks in MHT CET?

For 130 marks in MHT CET, the probable percentile will be around 97–98 percentile as per previous year MHT CET Results. This range normally puts candidates in a good position for top engineering colleges in Maharashtra.
