VITMEE 2024 Exam Pattern

VITMEE 2024 is a computer-based test conducted by Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) for admission to MTech and MCA programs. The exam pattern has been released by the university in the form of a brochure.

The test contains 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) to be answered in 2 hours. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

Exam Details

VITMEE 2024 exam for both MTech and MCA courses is scheduled for May 05, 2024. The subjects tested depend on the technical subject chosen for the specialization course.

  • Mode of exam: The exam is a computer-based test (CBT) conducted online. Candidates must know the basic working of computers to attempt the exam.
  • Duration: All candidates get 2 hours to complete the exam. No extra time is given to any candidate.
  • Language: The test paper is available in English only. It is not provided in any other language.
  • Type of Question: All questions are objective type MCQs. Each question has 4 alternative options, and the student must choose the most appropriate one.
  • Number of questions: The paper has 100 MCQs in total — 80 from the chosen technical subject and 20 from English Communication.

Marking Scheme

Each correct answer carries +1 mark. There is no deduction for wrong answers, and unattempted questions are given zero marks.

The maximum obtainable marks are 100. There is no sectional time limit, and the exam must be completed within the allotted 2 hours (from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM).

Exam Timing and Reporting Time

All candidates must reach the exam centre 1 hour before the commencement of the examination. The exam is held in online mode.

VITMEE 2024 Marking Scheme

Candidates must know the marking scheme to plan how to attempt the exam. The scheme for VITMEE 2024 is given below.

  • +1 mark is awarded for every correct answer.
  • No negative marking is applicable for incorrect answers.
  • No marks are deducted for leaving a question unanswered.
  • Marking two options is not possible as the test is online.

VIT University has not set any specific qualifying marks. Admission is strictly based on merit. A merit list of shortlisted candidates is released, and counselling follows based on that list.

Important Instructions for VITMEE 2024

Students must follow certain rules and regulations to maintain decorum in the VITMEE 2024 exam hall. These rules ensure that the examination proceeds properly.

  • Applicants must report at their respective centre 1 hour before the exam commences. Arriving late will result in missing the general instructions given in the exam hall.
  • Students must only bring their VITMEE 2024 Admit Card and blue or black ball-point pen. Forbidden items like slide rulers, calculator, logarithm table, mobile phones etc. will not be allowed inside the exam centre.
