BITSAT Exam Pattern 2026: Section Wise
BITSAT 2026 has 130 questions from 5 subjects. The exam is conducted in CBT/Online mode by BITS Pilani.
The paper has four parts. Part III covers two subjects: English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning.
- Physics and Chemistry each have 30 questions.
- English and Logical Reasoning together have 30 questions.
- Mathematics or Biology (for BPharm) has 40 questions.

Mathematics/Biology has the highest number of questions at 40. English has the lowest weightage with only 10 questions.
There is no sectional time limit in BITSAT 2026. Candidates can attempt sections in any order.
Students can prioritise strong sections, skip difficult questions and review them later, and avoid getting stuck in any section early. English and Logical Reasoning are considered easy and score highly, so attempting them early is advised.
English and Logical Reasoning questions are less time-consuming than Physics, Chemistry, Maths, or Biology questions. Their difficulty level is easy to moderate, and they require less time for high accuracy.
BITSAT Exam Pattern: Marking Scheme
The BITSAT marking scheme allows a maximum of 390 marks from 130 questions. Each question carries 3 marks.
Candidates who attempt all 130 questions are eligible for bonus questions if time permits. A total of 12 bonus questions are available in BITSAT 2026.
- 3 bonus questions are asked each from Physics, Chemistry, Maths/Biology, and Logical Reasoning.
- Attempting all 12 bonus questions can score an extra 36 marks.
- While attempting bonus questions, candidates cannot edit answers of the previous 130 questions.
- Candidates cannot choose more than 1 option as the correct answer.
The total number of questions, marking scheme, and sectional distribution remained unchanged. There is no time restriction on Parts in the BITSAT 2026 question paper.
Biology is included in the BITSAT 2026 question paper for BPharm admissions only.
BITSAT Sectional Weightage and Difficulty Level
Most students on Reddit noted that they found BITSAT difficult last year. Some students indicated that BITSAT was more difficult than the JEE Main examination.

Are BITSAT Question Paper Sets Different in Difficulty?
No, the question sets are designed to be comparable. As stated by BITS Pilani on the BITSAT official brochure, questions are selected randomly from a large question bank. Experts ensure that the question sets are of comparable difficulty level, content, and question type.

BITSAT Marking Scheme
BITSAT gives +3 marks for a correct answer and -1 for each incorrect answer. No negative marking applies to questions not attempted in BITSAT 2026.

How Does the Marking Scheme Affect Guessing?
In BITSAT, you get 3 marks for each correct answer and -1 mark for each incorrect answer. Blind guessing can reduce your net score because of negative marking.

BITSAT Question Type
BITSAT does not have numerical answer-type questions. The question paper is purely based on multiple choice questions (MCQs).
According to the official brochure from bits-pilani.ac.in:
- Questions are of objective type (multiple choice questions).
- Each question will have 4 options.
- Out of 4 options, only 1 will be correct.
Editing Answers in BITSAT
You can change your answer to any question at any time during the examination. The BITSAT official brochure states that you are free to go back and change any of the answers to the 130 questions.
Bonus Questions in BITSAT
You cannot opt for bonus questions unless you complete the compulsory 130 questions. You can opt for bonus questions only if:
- You attempt all 130 questions without skipping any questions.
- You still have time left.
