Exam Pattern
BITSAT 2026 is a 3-hour Computer-Based Test (CBT) with 130 MCQs totalling 390 marks. The marking scheme gives +3 marks for a correct answer and -1 mark for a wrong answer.

Eligibility Criteria

Aspirants must fulfil the BITSAT 2026 eligibility criteria to appear for the examination. The eligibility criteria apply to BE courses, except BE Environmental Sustainability Engineering, and MSc courses.
BITSAT 2026 Eligibility Criteria
To apply for BITSAT 2026, candidates must have passed Class 12 from a recognised board. The board can be central or state level.
For B.E. and M.Sc. programs, the required subjects are Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The Class 12 exam must include at least 5 subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, a language, and one additional subject.

Academic Qualification Details
Candidates who passed Class 12 in 2025 or are appearing in 2026 are eligible. If a candidate has appeared for the exam multiple times, only the latest attempt is considered.
Students who passed Class 12 in 2023 or earlier are not eligible for BITSAT 2026.
Age Limit
There is no specific age limit for BITSAT 2026. Candidates must have completed Class 12 under the 10+2 system from a recognised board or an equivalent qualification.
Gap Year and Improvement Exams
Candidates who took a gap year or repeated Class 12 can appear for BITSAT 2026. They must have completed the 12th-grade examination in 2025 or retaken the full set of subjects in 2025 or 2026.
Improving marks in a single subject through private exams is allowed. The results of the improvement exam must be declared before the BITSAT application deadline, typically June 30, 2026. The "Pass" status must remain unchanged after the improvement exam.
Admission Process
BITSAT scores are the only basis for admission to BITS Pilani. JEE Main scores are not considered for admission.
Direct Admission to Board Toppers Scheme
BITS Pilani offers direct admission to the 1st rank holder from any recognised Central or State Board. This admission is irrespective of the BITSAT score, provided the eligibility criteria are met.
- Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (PCM): Eligible for any first-degree program of choice.

Bonus Questions in BITSAT
In BITSAT, you can opt for 12 bonus questions to add extra marks to your score card. To opt for extra questions, you must fulfil the conditions in the BITSAT official brochure.
The brochure states: "If a candidate answers all 130 questions (without skipping any question), the candidate will have an option of attempting 12 (twelve) extra questions, if there is still time left. These extra questions will be from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology, and Logical Reasoning only; three questions from each of them. Further, once the candidate has opted for extra questions, he/she cannot go back for correction of any of the earlier answered 130 questions."
