CUET Counselling 2026 started soon after the declaration of the CUET UG results, with participating universities releasing their own admission schedules. The University of Delhi opened the first phase of its CSAS UG 2026 registration on June 27, 2026, while preference filling began on July 3, 2026.

Where to check CUET counselling?

Candidates can check CUET UG 2026 counselling information directly from the official websites of the universities they want to apply for.

Every university, such as Delhi University (DU), Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), and others, will release their counselling schedules and admission portals after the declaration of CUET UG 2026 results.

CUET 2026 Seat Allotment

Seat allocation in CUET UG 2026 will be done by individual participating institutions on the basis of candidates' CUET marks, category, availability of seats, and preferences.

On basis of past trends, approximately 85-90% of seats are filled up in the initial 2–3 allotment rounds in top universities such as DU, BHU, JNU, etc.

CUET 2026 Seat Allotment Rounds

Seat allotment for CUET UG 2026 will be done in multiple rounds by the participating universities.

Universities will declare round-wise seat allotment lists based on candidate's CUET score, rank, choice filling, seat availability, and category.

Candidates will be required to accept the seat, upgrade, or wait for later rounds based on their choice and merit.

• Round 1: First seat allotment according to merit, preferences, and availability of seats. Maximum top rank holders typically receive seats in Round 1.
• Round 2: Held for candidates who prefer seat upgradation or failed to receive a seat in Round 1. Seats that remain vacant after first allotment are filled.
• Round 3 (and subsequent rounds, if required): Last opportunity for seat allotment. Primarily for vacant/backlog seats after the withdrawal and non-reporting of previous candidates.
• Spot Round / Special Round: If seats are empty after all the rounds, universities carry out a Spot Counselling. Candidates need to personally present and occupy seats as per the availability.
