GCET 2025 Status

GCET 2025 has been cancelled. Admissions for undergraduate courses in Goa will now be based on JEE Mains 2025 scores. Candidates must have appeared for JEE Mains to be eligible for admission.

For Medical and Pharmacy courses, admissions will be based on NEET 2025 results. Further information is available on the official JEE Main 2025 website.

GCET was previously used to grant admission to qualifying candidates for professional degree courses in Engineering, Architecture, and Pharmacy.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must check the GCET 2025 eligibility criteria before applying. The criteria are divided into common requirements and course-wise requirements.

GCET Common Eligibility

• Nationality: Indian, NRI, OCI, and PIO candidates can apply.
• Age Limit: Candidates must be above 17 years as of December 31, 2025.
• Score Card: Candidates should have a valid GCET, NEET, or NATA exam scorecard.

B.Sc. Nursing Eligibility

• Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 10th and 12th exams from any recognized board.
• Marks Criteria: Candidates must have secured at least 45% aggregate marks in PCB subjects. SC, ST, and OBC category candidates can apply with 40% aggregate marks.
• Subjects: Physics, chemistry, biology, and English must have been studied as compulsory subjects in class 12th.

B.Pharma Eligibility

• Educational Qualifications: Candidates must have completed HSC (10+2) exams from a recognized university or board of Goa.
• Subjects: Physics, chemistry, biology, and English must have been studied as main subjects.
• Marks: Candidates must have secured no less than 45% marks in the qualifying test. SC, ST, and OBC category candidates need 40% marks.

B.Tech Eligibility

• Qualification: Candidates who have passed the higher secondary exam from any recognized board are eligible.
• Candidates must have obtained a diploma in engineering with at least 45% marks. SC, ST, and OBC candidates with 40% marks can also apply.
• Marks Criteria: Candidates must have a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in PCM subjects. SC, ST, and OBC category candidates need 40% aggregate marks.
• Subjects: Physics and mathematics must be main subjects, along with one of biology, chemistry, or biotechnology.

B.Arch Eligibility

• Qualification: Candidates must have passed a 10+2 or equivalent exam from any recognized board.
• Marks: Candidates must achieve at least 50% aggregate marks in their qualifying exam. SC, ST, and OBC category candidates need 45% marks.

Kashmiri Migrants for Engineering Courses

• The applicant must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std. XIIth) examination or its equivalent.
• English, Physics, and Mathematics must be compulsory subjects, along with one of Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Computer Science, or Biology.
• Candidates must have secured not less than 45% marks in Physics and Mathematics, along with one of the other listed subjects.

JEE Main and NEET 2025 Dates

JEE Main January session 1 was conducted from January 22 to January 30. Session 2 was conducted from April 1 to 8.

NEET 2025 will be held on May 4, 2025.

How to Apply for GCET 2025?

The GCET application form is submitted only in offline mode. Candidates must verify that they fulfill the GCET 2025 eligibility criteria before filling the application form.

The step-by-step procedure to fill and submit the GCET application form 2025 is below:

1. Download the GCET 2025 Application Form (Form A) from the application link and take a printout on good quality A4 size paper.
2. Enter all required particulars like personal details and details related to the category of the candidate.
3. Affix 1 recent color photograph on the application form. The photograph should not be taken more than 3 months prior to the date of admission.
4. Enclose two additional photographs with the GCET application form.
5. Enter the complete postal address, including the postal code.
6. Enter the telephone/contact number. The telephone number must be entered with the area code in brackets.
7. Check the Subject-Codes and encircle them.
8. Mention the center code and name; choose the GCET center 2025.
9. Enter details related to DD like DD number, Bank Name, and the date on which it was issued.
10. Candidates and their parents must sign at the designated place in the form.

GCET 2025 Application Fee

• The application fee is INR 2000/- for all category candidates.
• Candidates submitted the application fee via credit card, debit card, or net banking.

GCET 2025 Eligibility Criteria

Before filling the application form, candidates are required to fulfill the GCET 2025 eligibility criteria prescribed by the exam conducting authorities.

Nationality

The candidate should be an Indian national. Candidates who do not have a domicile or a citizenship certificate are not eligible to apply for GCET 2025.

Age Requirements

There is no age limit for candidates applying for any engineering program.

Examination Board

An applicant must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination of the Goa Board, or an examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, or any other examination which in scope and standard is deemed to be equivalent to the H.S.S.C. examination of Goa Board.

GCET 2025 Qualifying Marks

Applicants must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Class XII) Examination of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or an equivalent examination. English, Physics, and Mathematics are compulsory subjects.

Qualifying Exams for Each Course

Each course category uses a specific national-level exam score for admission. DTE Goa prepares a state merit list from these scores and conducts centralised counselling.

• B.E. admission requires a valid JEE Main 2026 score. No separate Goa-specific written test is held for engineering.
• B.Pharm aspirants can use either JEE Main or NEET 2026 scores for GCET 2026 counselling.
• Medical programmes use NEET UG scores.
• B.Arch admission uses NATA scores.

JEE Main 2026 Exam Pattern

JEE Main Paper 1 is the qualifying exam for B.E. admissions through GCET 2026. The paper has 75 questions carrying 300 marks in 3 hours.

• 25 questions each in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
• Correct MCQ answers earn +4 marks.
• Each wrong MCQ answer deducts 1 mark as negative marking.
• Numerical questions in Section B carry no negative marking — +4 for correct, 0 for wrong.

GCET Standalone Exam Status

GCET as a standalone written test has been discontinued. The last standalone exam was conducted in 2023.

The old format had Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with 225 MCQs in pen-paper OMR mode. This format is no longer used for admissions.

GCET 2026: Important Dates

The GCET 2026 admission schedule includes dates for national exams like JEE Main, NEET, and NATA, as well as DTE Goa's own process. As of June 2026, the B.E. merit list is out, and the first counselling round has ended.

The exam pattern for GCET 2026 depends on the target programme. For B.E. admissions, the qualifying exam is JEE Main Paper 1 conducted by NTA.

The marking scheme for GCET 2026 differs by programme and qualifying exam. For B.E. aspirants, the JEE Main 2026 marking scheme applies, with negative marking on MCQs and no penalty on numerical questions.

A negative marking of 1 mark applies to every wrong MCQ in JEE Main Section A. Avoid random guessing in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

There is no negative marking for JEE Main numerical questions in Section B. Attempt all five selected questions to maximise the score without any downside risk.

Every subject has 20 compulsory MCQs in Section A and 10 numerical questions in Section B, of which any 5 must be attempted. All three subjects together determine the JEE Main percentile and the DTE Goa merit rank.

The most significant change in GCET from 2024 is the complete discontinuation of the standalone Goa-level written examination for B.E. admissions. Students who appeared before 2024 sat an offline Goa-only test; from 2024 onwards, they compete in JEE Main at the national level.

How to Prepare Based on GCET Exam Pattern

Since GCET 2026 for B.E. relies entirely on the JEE Main score, preparation must align with the JEE Main Paper 1 format. The exam has 75 questions for 300 marks in a 3-hour CBT with negative marking on MCQs.

1. Build speed for 75 questions in 180 minutes: You have roughly 2.4 minutes per question on average. Practice full-length timed mock tests so you never lose marks to time pressure on familiar topics.
2. Strategically pick your 5 Section B numerical questions: Each subject gives you 10 numerical questions but you only attempt 5. Scan all 10 first and select the 5 where you are most confident. You score +4 with zero risk on the 5 you skip.
3. Never guess randomly on Section A MCQs: A single wrong MCQ costs 1 mark and a correct one earns 4. A random wrong guess carries a net swing of 5 marks against you. Skip questions where you cannot eliminate at least two options.
4. Give equal attention to all three subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics each carry 100 marks. A weak subject drags your JEE Main percentile and directly lowers your DTE Goa merit rank for GCET counselling.
5. Practise on the CBT interface: JEE Main is fully computer-based. Students unfamiliar with on-screen navigation, question-flagging, and section-switching lose precious minutes on exam day. Use NTA's official mock test platform for at least five full-length practice tests.
6. Use both JEE Main sessions strategically: DTE Goa uses your best JEE Main percentile across both sessions. If Session 1 (January) did not meet your target, Session 2 (April) gives a direct second attempt without compromising the earlier score.

DTE Goa released the B.E. merit list for 2026 on June 19, 2026 on its official website dte.goa.gov.in. The first round of in-person counselling for seat selection ran from June 22 to 26, 2026 at DTE, Porvorim.

JEE Main 2026 Sessions

GCET 2024 Counseling Procedure

The counseling process for GCET 2024 involves several steps. Candidates must follow the procedure as outlined below.

GCET Merit List for Bachelor of Engineering

The merit list for Bachelor of Engineering is prepared based on the aggregate marks obtained in Physics and Mathematics. In case of a tie, the candidate with more marks in Mathematics is given preference.

If the tie continues, Chemistry marks are considered. If Chemistry marks are also equal, the marks in Physics and Mathematics at the intermediate level or Qualifying Examination are considered.

If all the above criteria are equal, the candidate who is higher in age is given preference.

GCET Merit List for Pharmacy

The merit list for Pharmacy candidates is prepared based on marks in Physics and Chemistry. In a tie, the candidate scoring more marks in Chemistry is given weightage.

GCET 2024 Cut Off

The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Goa determines the minimum scores required for admission to various undergraduate engineering courses. DTE, Goa conducts GCET 2024 and is the competent authority that decides the GCET 2024 cutoff marks.

The GCET 2023 cutoff determinants included several factors. These were candidates' performance, seat capacity of the courses and colleges, total number of candidates, difficulty level of the paper, and reservation policy.
