Step 3: Choice Filling

Log in to mcc.nic.in and access the Choice Filling module. Search for colleges and MDS specialties from the available seat matrix. For each preferred option, you must select both the college and the specialty — these together form one choice. Add choices in order of your true preference, with your most desired college-specialty combination at the top. You can add, delete, and rearrange choices any number of times during the open window. Fill at least 15–20 choices to maximise your chances across all rounds. Once the window closes, unsubmitted or unlocked choices are auto-locked by the system — but submitting the lock yourself before the deadline is strongly recommended to avoid technical issues.

Step 4: Seat Allotment

After the choice filling window closes, MCC runs the allotment algorithm. Seats are allocated on the basis of your NEET MDS 2026 rank, your locked choices (in the order you listed them), available seat matrix, and applicable reservation category. The allotment result is published on mcc.nic.in. Log in and check your allotment letter. The letter specifies the allotted college, specialty, and the reporting deadline. No seat allotment means you are eligible to register again in the next round.

Step 5: Reporting to College

If allotted a seat, report to the allotted college within the window specified in the allotment letter — typically 5–7 days from the allotment date. Carry all original documents along with attested photocopies. Pay the college admission fee as directed by the institution. After document verification and fee payment, the college sends your admission status back to MCC. How to Fill and Lock Choices for NEET MDS Counselling 2026?

Choice filling is the most consequential step in NEET MDS counselling. Your allotment is entirely a function of the list you submit — MCC’s algorithm works down your list from choice 1 and stops at the first seat your rank can secure. A poorly ordered list means you may get a lower-ranked option even if a better one was available.

Step 1: Log in to the MCC Portal

• Open mcc.nic.in in a browser.
• Click on "PG Dental Counselling 2026."
• Enter your registered User ID and password.
• Enter the security captcha and click Login.

Step 2: Open the Choice Filling Module

• From the dashboard, click "Choice Filling and Locking."
• The seat matrix with all participating colleges and specialties loads on screen.

Step 4: Save Choices (Interim)

• Click "Save" to record your current list without locking it.
• You can return and edit the list as many times as needed before the deadline.
• The "Save" button does not finalise your choices — the portal allows changes until you lock.

Step 5: Lock Your Choices

• When you are satisfied with your ordered list, click "Lock Choices."
• A confirmation pop-up will display your final list — review it carefully.
• Click "Confirm" to finalise. Locking is irreversible within the same round.
• Download or print the locked choice confirmation page for your records.

How Much Money is Needed for NEET MDS Counselling 2026?

MCC charges two types of fees: a non-refundable registration fee and a refundable security deposit. The amounts differ based on category and seat type (AIQ/Central University vs. Deemed University). Additionally, college-level tuition and admission fees — which vary widely by institution — are paid separately at the time of reporting. The MCC fee only covers your participation in centralised counselling.

Non-Refundable Registration Fee

This fee is charged by MCC to process your counselling participation. It is not refunded under any circumstances — even if you do not receive a seat allotment, withdraw, or do not report to college.

Refundable Security Deposit

The security deposit is held by MCC as a guarantee that allotted students will report to their college. It is returned after all counselling rounds conclude — typically within 30 days of MCC’s official completion notice. If you withdraw after accepting a seat, the seat acceptance fee is not fully refunded. Students who never receive a seat allotment get their full deposit back. NEET MDS 2026 Seat Allotment — Round-Wise Details

Seat allotment in NEET MDS 2026 MCC counselling runs across four rounds. Each round fills a portion of the available seats, with vacant and surrendered seats rolling over to the next round. Students who miss Round 1 or are not allotted a seat in one round can register fresh in subsequent rounds. The seat matrix (total seats per college, specialty, and category) is published by MCC on mcc.nic.in before each round.

Previous year reference (NEET MDS 2025): In 2025, Round 1 closing scores for high-demand specialties (Orthodontics, Oral Surgery) at top government colleges ranged between 350–450 marks, while less-competitive specialties (Public Health Dentistry, Oral Pathology) saw closing scores in the 280–330 range. These figures are indicative only. Actual 2026 closing scores will be published by MCC after each round’s allotment result and will be updated here.

Reporting to the Allotted College

Reporting is the final step to confirm your MDS admission. After the seat allotment result is announced, you must physically report to the allotted institution within the window specified in the MCC allotment letter — typically 5–7 calendar days. Reporting after the deadline, even by one day, forfeits your seat without any refund of the security deposit.

Steps to complete reporting:

• Download and print your MCC Seat Allotment Letter from mcc.nic.in (log in → Allotment Result → Download Letter).
• Organise all original documents along with two sets of self-attested photocopies (refer to the Documents Required section above).
• Visit the allotted college’s admission office on a working day within the reporting window. Call the college admission desk in advance to confirm working hours.
• Submit original documents for document verification. The college will verify your BDS degree, internship certificate, State Dental Council registration, and NEET MDS score against the allotment letter.
• Pay the college admission and tuition fee as prescribed by the institution. Fee amounts vary significantly: government college fees are regulated (typically ₹50,000–₹1,00,000 per year for MDS in government institutions), while deemed university fees can run ₹5,00,000–₹25,00,000 per year.
• Collect the admission receipt and joining letter from the college, and retain copies of all documents submitted.
• Some colleges require you to update your reporting status online via mcc.nic.in — confirm this requirement with your college and complete it within the specified window.

Note: Students who join a deemed university and later wish to leave must follow that institution’s refund policy. Deemed university fee refunds are governed by UGC/MCC guidelines and are not administered by MCC directly.

Upgrade vs Freeze vs Withdraw in NEET MDS Counselling 2026

After receiving a seat allotment in any round, you have three options. The right choice depends on how satisfied you are with the allotted specialty and college. Understand the financial and academic consequences of each option before deciding.

Key considerations for the Upgrade option:

• If you opt to upgrade but receive a worse allotment (lower-ranked college or less preferred specialty) in the next round, the new allotment replaces the previous one. You cannot revert to your earlier seat.
• If you opt to upgrade and receive no new allotment in the next round, your previous allotted seat is retained — you do not lose it.
• If you withdraw after accepting a seat, the seat acceptance fee is not fully refunded. Specific forfeiture conditions are defined in the MCC counselling brochure for 2026 — read it carefully before withdrawing.
• The upgrade option is available between rounds. Once you formally join a college (report and pay fees), participating in the next round for an upgrade requires co-ordinating with both the college and MCC’s exit policy.
