About Bachelor of Engineering [BE] {Lateral}

Meenakshi College of Engineering (MCE), affiliated to Anna University, Chennai, offers a three-year BE Lateral Entry programme in six specialisations for Diploma holders and B.Sc graduates, AICTE approved. All six specialisations carry a uniform fee of INR 1,50,000 for three years (INR 50,000 per year), regulated by the Tamil Nadu Fees Determination Committee. Admission is through TNEA Lateral Entry counselling by the Tamil Nadu Directorate of Technical Education.

TNEA 2026 Lateral Entry applications closed on June 2, 2026. Online certificate verification is scheduled from June 8 to June 20, 2026. The rank list is expected on June 29, 2026, followed by counselling and seat allotment in July to August 2026.


MCE BE Lateral Fees 2026

All six BE Lateral specialisations at MCE carry a uniform regulated tuition fee of INR 1,50,000 for three years at INR 50,000 per year. This is the fee fixed by the Tamil Nadu Fees Determination Committee for Anna University affiliated colleges.

MCE BE Lateral Admission 2026

Admission to BE Lateral at MCE is through TNEA Lateral Entry counselling conducted by the Tamil Nadu Directorate of Technical Education, based purely on qualifying marks. No separate entrance exam is required. Management quota seats are filled directly by MCE.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must hold a Diploma in Engineering or Technology from TNSBTET or an equivalent recognised board in a relevant branch, with at least 55% aggregate (50% for BC; 45% for MBC/DNC; pass marks for SC/ST).
  • Alternatively, candidates with a B.Sc degree with Mathematics as a core subject (10+2+3 pattern) are eligible for lateral entry to any BE programme regardless of branch.
  • Lateral entry students are admitted directly to the 2nd year of the BE programme, completing three years at MCE under the Anna University scheme.

Admission Process

  • Register on the TNEA online portal (tneaonline.org) and complete the lateral entry application form.
  • Upload Diploma or B.Sc mark sheets, transfer certificate, community certificate, and other required documents.
  • Attend online certificate verification as scheduled by DoTE and confirm eligibility status.
  • Participate in web-based counselling, fill branch and college preferences, and lock choices before the deadline.
  • Accept the allotted seat by paying the acceptance fee to confirm admission, then report to MCE with original documents.
