COMEDK UGET 2026: Subject-Wise Breakdown & Weightage

The exam has three sections: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Each section has a 33.33% weightage in the exam. The syllabus is based on the CBSE class 11th and 12th syllabi.

Physics

The physics section tests understanding of principles and their applications. Questions are conceptual and numerical, covering topics such as mechanics, modern physics, and kinematics.

Mechanics dominated the paper with around 25% weightage and around 13-14 questions in 2025.

Chapter/Unit Approximate Weightage (%) Expected Questions (out of 60)
Mechanics (Laws of Motion, Work-Energy, Rotational Motion, Gravitation, Kinematics) 25% 8-10
Thermodynamics & Heat 12% 3-4
Electrostatics 10% 3-4
Current Electricity 10% 4-5
Magnetism & Electromagnetic Induction 8-10% 4-6
Optics (Ray & Wave) 8% 4-5
Modern Physics (Atoms, Nuclei, Semiconductors) 10% 5-6
Waves & Oscillations 8% 3-4
Units, Dimensions & Others (Error Analysis, Properties of Matter) 3-5% 1-2

Ques. Are Physics questions mostly numerical-based?

Ans. No, there will be questions on both numerical and conceptual understanding. Students can practice the numerical questions from reference books such as HC Verma.

Ques. How much time should be given to the physics section in the exam?

Ans. Around 50-60 minutes should be given to the physics section, as the calculations can be time-consuming and lengthy.

Chemistry

The chemistry section is divided into three parts: Physical, Organic, and Inorganic chemistry. Physical chemistry includes numerical problems of thermodynamics, while organic chemistry focuses on mechanics and nomenclature.

Last year, around 15-20 questions were from Physical Chemistry, accounting for around 30% of the paper.

COMEDK UGET 2026: Syllabus

The COMEDK UGET exam is based on the CBSE syllabus of Class 11 and Class 12. The Class 11 syllabus carries 33% weightage, and the Class 12 syllabus carries 67% weightage.

COMEDK has released the UGET 2026 syllabus on its official website. The official PDFs are available for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

Chemistry Syllabus and Weightage

Chemistry questions in COMEDK UGET are generally easier than KCET, with straightforward questions from Class 11 and 12. KCET questions are moderate to tough and require more conceptual depth.

The table below shows the approximate weightage of each Chemistry unit in the exam.

Chapter/Unit Approximate Weightage (%) Expected Questions (out of 60)
Chemical Bonding & Molecular Structure 12% 3-4
Thermodynamics 10% 3-4
Organic Chemistry Basics (GOC, Isomerism) 10-12% 4-5
p-Block & d-Block Elements 10% 4-5
Coordination Compounds 8% 2-3
Chemical Kinetics 8% 3-4
Solutions & Colligative Properties 7% 2-3
Hydrocarbons & Halogen Derivatives 6-8% 3-4
Carbonyl Compounds, Alcohols, Amines 8-10% 3-4
Electrochemistry 5-7% 2-3
Biomolecules, Polymers & Others (Environmental Chemistry) 3-5% 2-3

How to Memorise Organic Chemistry Reactions

Use sticky notes for reactions and revise them daily in the morning. The mind is fresh during that time, which enhances recall power.

Mathematics Syllabus and Weightage

The maths section is often considered the most lengthy due to numerical problems that require accuracy and practice. Questions on matrices, vectors, and probability test logical reasoning.

In 2025, Calculus and Algebra dominated the exam with around 15-20 and 12-16 questions respectively. COMEDK maths questions are moderate to tough, but easier than JEE Main; they are more calculation-based compared to some state exams.

Chapter/Unit Approximate Weightage (%) Expected Questions (out of 60)
Calculus (Limits, Differentiation, Integration, Differential Equations) 25% 10-12
Coordinate Geometry (Lines, Circles, Conics) 20% 7-9
Algebra (Quadratics, Sequences, Matrices, Binomial) 20% 6-7
Vectors & 3D Geometry 15% 4-5
Probability & Statistics 10% 3-4
Trigonometry 10% 3-4
Sets, Relations & Functions 3-5% 2-3
Complex Numbers 3-5% 2-3

Strategy to Score Well in Maths

Practice many questions to build speed and accuracy. Revise formulas multiple times and attempt multiple mock tests.

Solve previous year questions thoroughly. All concepts and topics asked in previous years should be at the fingertips of the candidates.

Understand the Exam

The first step is to understand the exam pattern and syllabus. Analyse previous years' questions to know what to expect.

Timeline Division

  • Month 1: Build a strong foundation using NCERT textbooks. Clear basic concepts with YouTube lectures and notes.
  • Month 2: Focus on problem-solving and gaining command over important topics.
  • Month 3: Do intensive revision with full-length mock tests and PYQs. Analysing mock tests is crucial to broaden knowledge.

Daily Routine

Study consistently for 8-9 hours daily. Give around 3 hours per subject, including time for solving questions.

Subject-Specific Tips

  • For Physics, focus on high-weightage chapters and daily numerical practice. Watch video lectures for conceptual clarity and revise notes or coaching material.
  • For Chemistry, use sticky and short notes to memorise reactions and the periodic table. Attempt multiple mock tests.
  • For Maths, practice questions in a time-bound manner to increase speed and accuracy. This helps handle lengthy questions in the exam.
