Film and Television Institute of India Entrance Exam Syllabus
- Part I (Objective): This section has 30 multiple-choice and multiple-select questions for 40 marks. It covers general knowledge, arts and culture, cinema awareness, television and digital media, and film studies.
- General Knowledge: Includes current affairs, Indian and world history, geography, science and technology, and national events.
- Arts and Culture: Covers Indian art forms, classical and contemporary music, theatre traditions, literature, and cultural history.
- Cinema Awareness: Tests knowledge of Indian and international cinema, landmark films, major filmmakers, film history, genres, and movements like the Indian New Wave, French New Wave, Italian Neorealism, and Soviet Montage.
- Television and Digital Media: Includes Indian television history, OTT platforms, the web series landscape, and media regulations in India.
- Film Studies: Covers basic film theory, film language, cinematographic principles, narrative techniques, and editing concepts.
- Part II (Descriptive): This section is course-specific and has descriptive and essay-type questions for 60 marks. It assesses your creative and analytical depth in the specialisation you applied for.
- Negative Marking: Part I has a penalty of –0.25 per wrong answer. Part II has no negative marking.
