IIHS University was conceived to address India's urban challenges and received deemed university status in 2025 after a 16-year journey [citation:1]. Backed by top industrialists including Nandan Nilekani and Uday Kotak, the university is built around five interdisciplinary schools: Governance, Economic Development, Human Development, Systems and Infrastructure, and Environment and Sustainability [citation:1][citation:12].
