Ques. Why does JMI BTech use a separate merit list instead of JoSAA or JAC Delhi?

Ans. JMI is a Minority Educational Institution excluded from JAC Delhi (covering DTU, NSUT, IGDTUW). As an MEI, JMI applies its 30 percent Muslim student reservation, which JoSAA and JAC cannot accommodate within their frameworks. Students must register separately at admission.jmi.ac.in and submit their JEE Main score to JMI directly. Appearing in JoSAA does not secure a JMI seat.

Ques. What is the actual cost difference between JMI’s regular and self-financed B.Tech over four years?

Ans. Regular B.Tech (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, ECE, Computer Engineering) totals INR 76,100 over four years. Self-financed tracks (Robotics and AI, VLSI Design, CSE Data Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Civil Construction Technology) total INR 6,12,700, a difference of INR 5,36,600. Both tracks follow the same JEE Main admission process and lead to the same B.Tech degree from JMI.

Ques. How does the 30 percent Muslim reservation affect JEE Main cutoff ranks for general category students?

Ans. JMI reserves 30 percent of B.Tech seats for Muslim students in a separate merit pool. The remaining 70 percent follow standard central reservation norms for general, OBC, SC, ST, and PwD categories. For general category non-Muslim students the effective pool is smaller than at non-MEI colleges, but JMI’s total seat strength keeps the general cutoff lower than DTU or NSUT.

Ans. Yes. JMI’s new self-financed B.Tech programmes in Robotics and AI, CSE Data Science, VLSI Design, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Civil Construction Technology received AICTE approval before 2026-27 intake commenced.
