Fees

Fees at Jamia Millia Islamia University for the Bachelor of Arts + Bachelor of Law [BALLB] {Hons.} program distinctly differ between the two offered batches. Regular batch students pay an annual tuition fee of INR 10,000, while those in the self-finance batch incur higher yearly charges of INR 40,000. This differentiation is based on ranks achieved in entrance examinations.

Admission fees for the program are approximately INR 200, with no additional hidden charges involved. Financial assistance is available through various scholarship options, including the JMI Teachers Association scholarships, the Reliance Scholarship program, and others accessible via the National Scholarship Portal, primarily benefiting students from minority communities or those with financial need.

Analysis:

The JMI JEE Main Cutoff 2025 shows that Computer Engineering was the most competitive B.Tech branch, with the lowest closing rank of 43,967. Branches like Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science) and Electronics & Communication Engineering also attracted many applicants. On the other hand, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering had higher closing ranks, making them comparatively easier to get into. Overall, students with better JEE Main ranks had a higher chance of securing admission to the top engineering branches at JMI.

✓ Opt for this if

  • Your JEE Main rank falls outside the DTU or NSUT cutoff range and you need an affordable Delhi-based government engineering option.
  • You belong to the Muslim community and benefit from JMI’s 30 percent minority reservation, which lowers effective cutoff ranks.
  • You want a centrally-funded engineering degree in Delhi at a total fee under INR 80,000.

✗ Skip if

  • Your JEE rank qualifies for DTU or NSUT, which offer higher median placement packages than JMI.
  • You need a self-financed specialization but cannot afford INR 6.1 lakh over four years.
  • You prioritise campus recruiter diversity, as DTU and NSUT have stronger placement ecosystems in Delhi NCR.

Jamia B.Tech Placement

JMI BTech FAQs

Ques. Why does JMI BTech use a separate merit list instead of JoSAA or JAC Delhi?

Ans. JMI is a Minority Educational Institution excluded from JAC Delhi (covering DTU, NSUT, IGDTUW). As an MEI, JMI applies its 30 percent Muslim student reservation, which JoSAA and JAC cannot accommodate within their frameworks. Students must register separately at admission.jmi.ac.in and submit their JEE Main score to JMI directly. Appearing in JoSAA does not secure a JMI seat.

Ques. What is the actual cost difference between JMI’s regular and self-financed B.Tech over four years?

Ans. Regular B.Tech (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, ECE, Computer Engineering) totals INR 76,100 over four years. Self-financed tracks (Robotics and AI, VLSI Design, CSE Data Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Civil Construction Technology) total INR 6,12,700, a difference of INR 5,36,600. Both tracks follow the same JEE Main admission process and lead to the same B.Tech degree from JMI.

Ques. How does the 30 percent Muslim reservation affect JEE Main cutoff ranks for general category students?

Ans. JMI reserves 30 percent of B.Tech seats for Muslim students in a separate merit pool. The remaining 70 percent follow standard central reservation norms for general, OBC, SC, ST, and PwD categories. For general category non-Muslim students the effective pool is smaller than at non-MEI colleges, but JMI’s total seat strength keeps the general cutoff lower than DTU or NSUT.

Ques. Are JMI’s newer B.Tech specializations like Robotics and AI AICTE-approved?

Ans. Yes. JMI’s new self-financed B.Tech programmes in Robotics and AI, CSE Data Science, VLSI Design, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Civil Construction Technology received AICTE approval before 2026-27 intake commenced. Graduates are eligible for GATE-based PSU recruitment, M.Tech admission at IITs and NITs, and campus placements through JMI’s Training and Placement Cell.

Ques. Can students from outside Delhi compete for JMI BTech seats?

Ans. Yes. Unlike DTU and NSUT, which allocate most seats to Delhi-domicile students through JAC Delhi, JMI B.Tech is open to candidates from any state on the basis of JEE Main scores alone. No domicile reservation applies. Only the 30 percent minority reservation and standard SC/ST/OBC/PwD quotas govern seat allocation, making JMI equally accessible to outstation students.
