KNRUHS BDS FAQs
Ques. Is NEET UG mandatory for BDS admission through KNRUHS?
Ans. Yes, NEET UG is mandatory for BDS admission through KNRUHS state quota and MCC All India Quota counselling. Candidates must score the minimum qualifying percentile in NEET UG to be eligible for BDS at any KNRUHS affiliated dental college. There is no separate state entrance exam for BDS in Telangana and NEET score is the sole determinant of merit rank for seat allotment.
Ques. What is the fee for BDS at KNRUHS affiliated dental colleges?
Ans. Total fees at government dental colleges affiliated to KNRUHS are INR 1,80,000 for the complete five-year BDS programme. Private dental college state quota fees under KNRUHS are substantially higher and vary by institution. Management quota fees at private dental colleges are considerably more expensive. Hostel and mess charges are separate and depend on the individual dental college. Counselling registration costs INR 2,000 for OC and BC and INR 1,200 for SC and ST.
Ques. How does BDS counselling work through KNRUHS and MCC?
Ans. BDS admissions in Telangana use a two-track process. MCC conducts counselling for 15% All India Quota seats at KNRUHS affiliated dental colleges through mcc.nic.in, starting with Round 1 registration closing 07 August 2026. KNRUHS conducts state quota counselling for the remaining 85% seats based on NEET UG rank and Telangana domicile through knruhs.telangana.gov.in. Candidates from Telangana may participate in both tracks to maximise seat-securing chances.
Ques. Can students from outside Telangana apply for BDS through KNRUHS?
Ans. Students from outside Telangana cannot access the 85% state quota BDS seats managed by KNRUHS, as those require Telangana domicile. However, they can apply for the 15% All India Quota seats at KNRUHS affiliated dental colleges through MCC counselling at mcc.nic.in, which has no domicile restriction. For AIQ, seat allotment is purely based on NEET UG rank and category.
Ques. What are career options after BDS from KNRUHS affiliated colleges?
Ans. After BDS from a KNRUHS affiliated dental college, graduates register with the Telangana State Dental Council and can practise as registered dentists. Career options include private dental practice, joining multispecialty hospitals, and teaching after completing MDS. Government dental officer posts through TSPSC are open to BDS graduates. International licensing exams like NBDE and ORE are also pursued by graduates planning overseas practice.
Ques. What NEET UG rank is needed for BDS at government dental colleges through KNRUHS?
Ans. For government dental colleges affiliated to KNRUHS, Telangana General category candidates typically need a NEET UG rank below 50,000 and a score above 400 to compete for state quota seats. The exact cutoff varies each year based on total applicants and total available seats. SC and ST candidates qualify at lower marks due to category reservation. Previous year rank data on the KNRUHS website and MCC closing rank reports help estimate the cutoff.
