Dr. (Prof) Prashant P. Joshi, MD (Medicine), MSc (Clinical Epidemiology, UNC Australia), is a medical teacher par excellence, outstanding researcher, astute physician, and an able administrator with 40 years of teaching experience. He was Professor and Head of the Department of General Medicine at AIIMS, Nagpur (2019-2023); Indira Gandhi Government Medical College, Nagpur (2008-2019), and Officer on Special Duty to Executive Director, AIIMS Nagpur (2023).

With his strategic vision, a wealth of experience, and steadfast commitment to innovation, Dr. Prashant P. Joshi is poised to lead the institute towards excellence in clinical care, medical education, research, and administration — the foundational pillars of medical governance.

Dr. Joshi's dream is to transform AIIMS Nagpur into a premier medical institution known for accessible and affordable tertiary-level patient care, pioneering research on regional and national health challenges, and delivering quality medical education that fosters future leaders in medicine.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Nagpur is an Institute of National Importance established by the Government of India under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) with the objective of correcting regional imbalances in the availability of affordable tertiary healthcare and strengthening high-quality medical education and research across the country.
