DoMS NALSAR BBA-MBA FAQs

Ques. Can I exit the IPM programme after 3 years with just the BBA degree, and what are the conditions?

Ans. Yes, DoMS NALSAR offers a voluntary exit option after the completion of 3 years of the IPM programme. Students who meet the academic requirements as specified by the university are awarded the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree. However, this is a voluntary exit and not automatic - students must formally apply for it. If you plan to pursue higher studies or a career immediately after 3 years, this option provides flexibility. That said, most students continue for the full 5 years to earn the MBA degree, which significantly enhances placement prospects.

Ques. Is IPMAT (IIM Indore) score accepted for admission to NALSAR IPM, or is NMET (UG) mandatory?

Ans. Both NMET (UG) and IPMAT (IIM Indore) scores are accepted for admission to the NALSAR IPM programme. You do not need to appear for both - a valid score in either exam is sufficient. If you have appeared for both, the university considers your best score. NMET (UG) is NALSAR's own entrance test conducted specifically for this programme, while IPMAT (IIM Indore) is a widely taken national-level exam. Many students who appear for IPMAT for IIM Indore simultaneously use the same score for NALSAR IPM.

Ques. Is hostel accommodation mandatory at DoMS NALSAR, and what are the living costs?

Ans. Yes, DoMS NALSAR is a fully residential campus located at Justice City, Shameerpet, Hyderabad, and hostel accommodation is mandatory for all students. The user charges (which include room rent, electricity, water, internet, generator charges, and outsourced services) amount to Rs. 1,07,000 per annum. Additionally, mess charges are approximately Rs. 40,000 per annum (subject to revision). A refundable hostel deposit of Rs. 10,000 (Rs. 4,000 for SC/ST students) is collected at the time of admission. These charges are included in the annual fee structure.

Ques. How does the placement scenario look for IPM students - are they placed separately from MBA students?

Ans. IPM students at DoMS NALSAR are placed alongside the MBA batch during their final year (Year 4 and 5). The placement pool is shared, and IPM students compete with 2-year MBA students for the same roles. As per interim placement data for the 2025 batch, the average CTC stood at Rs. 9.5 LPA and the highest CTC was Rs. 16 LPA, with 27+ companies participating. Domains include Finance, Marketing, HR, Operations, and Strategy. However, students and reviewers have noted that the placement figures are modest compared to top IIMs, and many IPM graduates use NALSAR as a launchpad to pursue MBA at top B-schools or appear for civil services.

Ques. What is the seat intake and reservation structure for the NALSAR IPM programme?

Ans. The total sanctioned intake for the NALSAR IPM programme is 66 seats for Indian nationals, with an additional 20% (13 seats) allocated for Foreign Nationals over and above the sanctioned strength. Of the 66 seats, 75% (50 seats) are for All India category candidates and 25% (16 seats) are for Resident Students of Telangana. Reservation within these categories follows: General - 33 seats, SC - 9 seats, ST - 4 seats, OBC/BC (Non-Creamy Layer) - 14 seats, EWS - 6 seats. Additionally, 30% horizontal reservation applies for female candidates and 5% for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PWD).

Ques. Is the NALSAR IPM programme worth it compared to IPM at IIMs, and what are the key differences?

Ans. NALSAR IPM is a strong option for students who want a management education deeply integrated with law, governance, and ethics - something that IIM IPM programmes do not offer to the same extent. The fee structure is significantly lower than IIM Indore or IIM Rohtak IPM programmes, making it more accessible. The campus environment is highly academic and research-oriented. However, the placement figures are lower than IIM IPM programmes, and the brand recognition in the corporate world is still growing. Students who plan to use the programme as a foundation for further studies (top MBA, civil services, or legal careers) find it highly rewarding. Those primarily focused on immediate high-paying placements may find IIM IPM programmes more suitable.
