About DMS, IIT Delhi Social Sector Attachment (SSA)

Social Sector Attachment (SSA) is an initiative by DMS, IIT Delhi under which students work with NGOs for social empowerment and development. It is a part of the full-time MBA course curriculum and takes place after the first semester.

Students must dedicate at least 28 hours to social service. The department evaluates the work in the next semester.

Role of NIVAH Committee

NIVAH is the committee that collaborates with NGOs to give students a platform for social contribution through SSA. The committee handles all SSA-related tasks for the entire batch.

Companies are moving towards social responsibility and community engagement. Through SSA, students get exposure to this social engagement as future corporate professionals.

Students contribute to NGOs through various activities. Groundwork with direct community involvement is compulsory in the SSA program.

SSA aims to instil a will in students to contribute for a good cause. It seeks to combine talent, skill and will to make a tangible contribution to society.

SAKSHAM - Annual CSR Conclave

SAKSHAM is an annual CSR conclave organised by the committee. It connects students with the corporate world and helps them understand the importance of a valued atmosphere in organisations.

The panellists discussed how creating a valued atmosphere matters more in today's organisations than a responsibility-sharing model. It inspires students to organise business in a socially responsible manner for a better shared future.

Annual Case Study Competition

The Annual Case Study Competition is held during PARIVARTAN, the Annual Management, Cultural and Sports Fest of DMS, IIT Delhi. A business case study is floated and participants provide suitable solutions for the use case.

The competition tests the knowledge of individual teams in various business domains. It analyses their ability to come up with practical case solutions.

Spending time with NGOs broadens perspective and impacts the way objectives are pursued and decisions are made. Working in an NGO can make a positive impact on life.

Students learn and experience working with people of different cultures. It increases the ability to adapt to cultural demands and behavioural expectations, and improves handling of sensitive situations. The work contributes towards a better tomorrow and brings a sense of job satisfaction and self-motivation.

Share Your Wardrobe - Cloth Donation Drive

NIVAH hosted 'Share Your Wardrobe', a cloth donation drive. The drive collected huge donations from students and other residents on campus.

The drive was held on the motto 'Give your wardrobe a little space and your clothes a second life'. The clothes were donated to SeeYahi Foundation, an NGO dedicated to educating students in slum areas.
