About this Scholarship

The University of Exeter Classics and Ancient History Leventis Doctoral Studentship is a scholarship for Indian students.

Through the generosity of the A. G. Leventis Foundation, the Department of Classics and Ancient History is offering a Doctoral Studentship to fund research on any aspect of Greek or Roman antiquity.

The studentship will provide a significant contribution towards tuition fees and maintenance for three years, with a total value of c. £25,000 per annum.

The successful candidate may also be asked to contribute up to 150 hours per annum to departmental teaching, including preparation time.

The Department prides itself on its vigorous research culture, in which postgraduate research students play central roles.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must have a strong academic background and a clear and engaging research proposal.
  • Successful applicants normally have a good first degree (at least 2.1, or international equivalent) in Classics and Ancient History or a related discipline.
  • Applicants must have obtained, or be currently working towards, a Masters degree at Merit level, or international equivalent, in Classics and Ancient History or a related discipline.
  • Applicants must meet the University's English language entry requirements.
  • The studentship is only open to applicants who will start their study in September 2020.
