VGSOM Admission 2026 Admission to VGSOM courses is based on a national-level entrance exam followed by a Personal Interview. For MBA courses, admission is based on composite scores of CAT percentile, Academic Score, PI, and Work Experience, with weightage decided by the institute. Candidates must meet one of the following criteria.

They must have a Bachelor's degree of minimum 4-year duration in engineering, technology, or pharmacy. Alternatively, they must have a Master's degree in Science, Economics, or Commerce, with Mathematics or Statistics at the Bachelor's level. The minimum percentage of marks in the qualifying degree is also specified.

For General, EWS, and OBC candidates, the minimum is 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale. For SC, ST, and PWD candidates, the minimum is 55% marks or a CGPA of 6.0 on a 10-point scale. For the Executive MBA, candidates must have passed a bachelor's degree with 65% marks and have at least 4 years of work experience.

Admission to Ph.D. courses is based on GATE, CEED, JEST, UGC-NET, or CSIR-NET scores, followed by a Personal Interview. In the second stage of MBA admission, final selection is based on the cumulative score of the application rating (AR), CAT performance, and performance in the online PI process. 10 marks are given to all female applicants for GDF.

The weightage for different components is as follows. Application Rating has a weight of 20. CAT VARC has a weight of 20.

CAT DILR has a weight of 10. CAT QA has a weight of 10. PI has a weight of 40.

The total weight is 100. Popular Questions One common question is about the types of questions asked in VGSOM interviews. In VGSOM interviews, questions are mostly technical from undergrad subjects like engineering, computer science, math, or electronics.

They also ask about work experience, including daily roles and projects. Personal details are covered, such as "tell me about yourself," "why MBA," and hobbies. Some questions on current affairs or economy topics, like GDP, are also asked.

VGSOM Interview Experience How tough is the VGSOM interview for engineers with work experience? VGSOM interviews can be very tough and often feel like a technical or MTech test rather than an MBA interview. Many candidates with 1-3 years of work experience in IT or consulting face heavy questioning on undergraduate topics such as DSA, DBMS, circuits, distributions, or graphs.

Panels may say you are behind if you have forgotten the basics. However, revising college subjects well before the interview helps a lot. What is the panel and duration like in VGSOM interviews?

VGSOM panels usually have 2 or 3 professors, a mix of male and female, and sometimes include industry experts. Interviews last between 15 and 30 minutes. Panelists are friendly in some cases and help if you get stuck, but in other cases, they grill hard and may not listen fully to your answers.

Any tips for preparing for the VGSOM interview? For VGSOM, revise undergraduate technical subjects thoroughly, including math, stats, engineering basics, and DSA for CS. Know your work experience stories well.

Read basic current affairs and economy news. Be honest if you do not know something, as panels sometimes explain. Stay calm during grilling, as a good CAT score and work experience also matter for final selection.
